If you’ve ever tried to preheat wide-format Low-E glass, you know the struggle. You need the heat to be perfectly even across the whole sheet. But once you go past 3 meters, those standard modular lamps start to fail you. You end up with “cold spots” right at the joints, and that’s where the trouble starts. We fixed this by ditching the modules and building custom, ultra-long continuous infrared units. The struggle with power You can’t just stretch a quartz tube and hope for the best. If you do, you’ll run into voltage drop. Basically, the ends of the lamp end up running cooler than the middle, and your thermal profile goes out the window. To stop that, we get obsessive about the internal filament winding. We spec the voltage and winding exactly so the heat stays consistent from edge to edge. Just a heads-up: these things pull a massive amount of current. You’ll need a power supply that can actually handle the load without popping breakers every ten minutes. Quartz and the “Right” Heat We use high-purity quartz for the housing. Why? Because it can handle the shock of rapid heating and cooling without cracking. But it’s not just about the glass. For Low-E work, the wavelength has to be just right to actually penetrate the surface. The Installation Reality Check Here is the thing: wiring a 3-meter unit isn’t a DIY project. You need heavy-duty connectors, or you’re looking at burn-outs at the terminals. And then there’s the heat. These units put out an incredible amount of energy. If your cooling blowers and exhaust systems aren’t up to the task, that heat has nowhere to go. It’ll just soak into your machine and start degrading your other components. We provide the raw power, but your airflow is what keeps the whole system stable.
